Unemployed PRC prick hacks TV contestants’ webcams (RSA tokens probably not involved)

Published by at 10:38 pm under China internet,Cyber Crime

More than two years after Heike’s post about the Kapa girl video, a narrow majority of our visitors come to TDV from searches for her video. Sadly, I’m about to post something that will continue this trend of optimizing our site for desperate porn searchers.

So apparently the show 非诚勿扰 (If you are the one) is a dating\reality program that actually displays the contestants’ QQ numbers and email addresses. An unemployed PRC hacker used the information to target some of his favorites with a social engineering scam that included a malicious program that let him control the victims’ webcams. After capturing some nudy pics, he attempted to extort money from the victims and one or more of them went to the cops and he quickly realized that he done goofed because he was backtraced and will spend the next three years in prison.

Thanks to Greg @metalabasia for the link.

Sorry, I don’t have the pics.

@osioniusx – thank you. Heike has been back for a while. I’m slacking because I can’t access TDV from my office anymore.

@Bob – not sure what you mean. I don’t think any of the articles I read implied that he was in the PLA. Then again, I didn’t read any of them too closely, I was just looking for the pictures.

@jumper: Sorry, for some reason I read PRC as PLA through the entire post. Brain fart.

@mel – sure. I use a different jabber account now though.

@Bob – no problem. I figured it was something like that. I should stop using PRC and maybe say mainland China or just China instead.

I am going to read this as soon as I have some. Wait, I do not like the somewhat wierd attachment to being unemployed and hacking. Working people do it to ya. Respectible people like bank mangers , school directors , communications professional it takes a combination of effects anything , but when you get the combination which poor character and values you are bond to have negative results. It is like the issues of hackers and personal ainformation are the here in Canada as they are i USA and China. They attach basic rights of privacy and can help but adversely effecting buisness and economy.

I have a few them more to do and will have the time to return to work back in Korea or China as soon as I have the time

I am starting to put some time and thought into how I want to structure my personal and buisness communications. This brings up of legal accuoutaity and registraion things of yourself. Who does , whois going to be responsible for regulating that the info is accurate expecial with ip.6 . which can be a bit sthethy because the stuff I am cleaning up is unreal.

And with all the past emails that are in their possession but will have to be dealth with at some ..

After saying that people are allowed to have unlisted phone … here come lawyer. yikes.

I am going to be talking with verisign where I hold an an account for their recomendation as I like system.

    Are your comments still off.

I am trying to figure where to send you my new TBA Ssytems account email when I figure it.

gotta run … just had a bit of down and thought I would check see if any new is.
