F-U Tencent!
I hate QQ too.
Just thought I would post something that isn’t about #LIGATT…
From one of my favorite sites, Danwei, comes an amusing post covering the China Computer World article cursing Tencent, one of the largest Internet companies in the PRC. Tencent is the primary developer of QQ, what may be the most widely used IM client in the world.

Well that was an interesting article to read, in the amusing post link. I find it quite interesting that the LOGO itself is the same Penguin from the Linux logo. How do they get away with that? I mean seriously without even reading anything on your article and just looking at the picture I at first though someone was trying to kill of Linux in China for some reason.
Now that I see the head honcho’s response though, to quote
“As for the charge of imitation, Ma Huateng’s response is: Imitation is the most reliable form of innovation.”
specifically that they imitate everything because innovating seems unprofitable. This reminds me of WOW. Take the best of all the games ever made and shove it into one game and make it a dull, boring and flavor-free casual wank-fest.
and that’s my 2 cents..ten cents…
I never liked QQ …..
But again, talking about innovation in China, I am wondering how many of those “accusers” are actually innovated their tech or business model…Copy-cats are all around and everyone does that.
there is any secure QQ client for international users?
@foo
You can use Adium but I don’t think you can use any of the security features when you connect to an official QQ client.
@jumper
Adium is for mac users, there is any for windows?
