Several days later for some unknown reason, the entire site got wiped and everything was gone. We had recent database backups but no recent backups of wp-content so we tried to get the hosting provider to restore it. They failed us so we just went with the old wp-content backup and we'll have to fix some posts from the last couple of months or so. It is difficult to backup wp-content. There isn't enough room on the host to put the backup on our own server so we have to FTP it off which takes forever and is prone to failure.
